4R70W / 4R75W / 4R75E Forward Clutch Drum — Loaded 3-Hole (2003+)
This loaded forward clutch drum (3-hole design) fits 4R70W, 4R75W, and 4R75E Ford automatic transmissions from 2003 and newer (model-dependent). The forward drum is a critical rotating component that drives the transmission in all forward gears. It houses the forward clutch pack and applies hydraulic pressure to transfer torque from the input shaft to the geartrain. When worn or damaged, it can cause slipping, delayed engagement, or loss of forward movement.
The 3-hole configuration, introduced in later production units, improves lubrication and fluid distribution to the clutch pack. As a result, it enhances clutch cooling, reduces heat buildup, and supports improved durability under towing or higher-load conditions. This drum comes loaded with internal clutch components (frictions, steels, and related hardware — configuration may vary), helping reduce rebuild time and simplify installation.
Beginning in 2003, Ford updated several internal components within the 4R70W platform before transitioning fully into the 4R75W and 4R75E. Although many parts interchange, verifying production year, spline count, and internal design is essential before purchase.

Confirm spline count and clutch configuration
Proper identification prevents clutch clearance issues, spline mismatch, and premature failure. Always check the transmission tag and internal build specifications before ordering. Matching the correct forward drum ensures smooth engagement, firm shifts, and long-term transmission reliability.
