The 01P transmission (also known as the AG4-098) is primarily found in several Volkswagen models, as well as some related European vehicles, generally manufactured between the mid-1990s and early 2000s. It is a 4-speed automatic transmission designed for higher torque applications in vans and minibuses, paired with transverse engines of up to 2.8 liters.
Compatible vehicles and fitment include:
- Volkswagen EuroVan (including Camper, MV, and MV Weekender trims), fits 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 model years.
- Rialta Motorhome (which is based on the EuroVan chassis).
- Volkswagen Transporter (T2/T4).
- Volkswagen Sharan.
- Ford Galaxy (fits MPV models 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 with 1.8L, 1.9L, 2.0L, or 2.8L engines).
- Seat Alhambra.
- Mercedes-Benz V-Class (fits 2.8L models 2000, 2001, 2002).
The 01P transmission shares many internal components and design features with the 01M and 01N transmissions, but has a larger differential section intended for heavier applications. It is crucial to verify compatibility using the specific transmission code (e.g., CWC, CWE, DLM, DNA, etc.) or the vehicle’s VIN number, as interchangeability is not always direct between different versions.
